Intimate Wedding in Tyler, Texas

I have been friends with Elizabeth for several years so it was a complete honor when she asked me to photograph her and Davide’s wedding. She helped me with my very first styled shoot that was really just one of our best friends in a borrowed dress from Alexia Gavala Bridal here in Austin. None of us knew what we were doing and the Texas heat had us all sizzling, but it was truly one of the most fun days just getting to create with sweet friends. And then Elizabeth moved abroad, met a boy, fell in love, and that’s what leads us here!

Elizabeth and Davide met the old fashioned way, on Tinder, and then dated/lived around Europe and the U.S. until they got married and settled (for now) in Colorado. Their wedding was the absolute sweetest day with only their closest family and friends. Every aspect of their day was thoughtful and intentional, including the hill we sped to catch the last bit of sunset-- a place where Eliza and Davide would often go to watch the sunset when they were in Tyler.

Inspired by the Sonoran desert, Elizabeth sourced and curated everything for the wedding with that aesthetic in mind, all from her favorite female artists.

From the couple:

Sunday, January 24th, 2016: Elizabeth had just moved to Madrid, Spain for an artist residency. Davide was in his 3rd year completing his Ph.D. We both swiped right and met for “dobles” (pints) in a small bar in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid. We talked for hours at the bar until it closed. Walking home at 1 am Elizabeth couldn’t wipe the smile off of her freezing face. Davide biked home to a broken refrigerator.

Thursday, January 24th 2019: Davide takes Elizabeth out to a scenic overlook in Tucson, AZ to celebrate their 3rd year of that first Tinder date. They sat and cuddled to keep warm, watching the sunset over the desert expanse. Davide started to say some sweet things and then got out a small box asking Elizabeth, “Will you marry me?” He didn’t get on one knee or open the box, but Elizabeth said, “Yes.” hoping there was a ring inside. There was.
