...Back in November 9th, 2012. Avery and Ivy met that night, fell in love and knew instantly that one day they would wed.
Just kidding, it's funnier than that. Ivy and Avery had a mutual friend, Whitney Hollowell, during their second year of attending Texas A&M University. One Friday night, Whitney thought "the more the merrier," and brought two groups of friends together for a good time; Avery and his two fraternity brothers, and Ivy and a few of her friends. When the two groups came together, Ivy was first drawn to Avery's fraternity brother, Matt Moore (Matt, if you're reading this, you had a chance, man!) But through some careful sweet talkin', Ivy and Avery quickly hit it off and exchanged phone numbers.
If you're an Aggie, then the weekend of November 9th 2012 probably has a special place in your heart. The day after Avery and Ivy met, Johnny Football beat the ever lovin' hell outta the Alabama Crimson Tide. The night of that sweet, sweet victory, Whitney proposed that we all celebrate by taking an impromptu trip to her Lake House in Marble Falls, Texas. That night, Avery and Ivy broke away from the group and spent several hours talking endlessly and getting to know each other under the stars over Lake LBJ. That night, an official "First Date" was planned for the following weekend.
The first date started off as planned by Avery... A dinner at Cafe Eccell in College Station, followed by a party hosted by Avery's Fraternity. Unfortunately, the date went downhill from there... Avery's car was broken into, and 100 dollars was stolen out of Ivy's purse. Avery was fully expecting that to be the deal breaker that brought an end to a short relationship, but leveler heads prevailed. Ivy stuck around, and just a few weeks later on December 7th, Avery asked Ivy to be his girlfriend. She accepted, in exchange for a 100 dollar cash reimbursement, of course.
Fast forward to December 2015, when Avery graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and landed a job at KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas. Meanwhile, Ivy had an additional semester of school left to secure her Masters degree in Accounting. This would mark the beginning of two years of maintaining a long-distance relationship; Avery in Abilene, and Ivy in Dallas as a tax accountant for Ernst & Young in Dallas. Many back and forth trips on I-20, daily Skype video calls, and extreme patience would eventually bring Ivy and Avery back together in Austin, Texas.
Just eight months later, on a "birthday trip" to Fredericksburg for a wine tour in April of 2018, Avery asked Ivy to spend the rest of her life with him. Finally, on May 25th, 2019, Avery and Ivy will take their first steps down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Avery Tomasco.
